Did Ustream.TV Make A Huge Error In Site Upgrade? Many Users Unhappy

Technology Changes

The one thing about this ecommerce business, and the internet as a whole is that change is constant. Technology is constantly moving forward, however sometimes implementation of that technology is not necessarily a good thing. Ustream.tv made major changes to it’s site and services on Thursday and hundreds of users of the FREE service are up in arms.

Again, granted this is a free service, however after the release of the new site on Thursday, there are no fewer than 100 comments on the Ustream blog complaining about the changes, including one from this author. I really liked Ustream, and was seriously considering purchasing the Watershed paid version of the program. However, since this drastic change, I will be rethinking this move.

To make these massive changes, without alerting the users to the upcoming changes, not having all the bugs worked out and most of all having no help pages to work within the new program are to this writer the absolute wrong thing to do. Since the blog post on Thursday, and the associated comments, I have seen no response from Ustream posted, no additional help information, and I for one will have to rework my website to remove my Ustream player.

Ustream.tv, good product, very poor implementation of site changes and even worse customer support. I hope they can recover from this.

There is a familiar story! My way or the highway, and they will be SO surprised when their customers choose the highway.

Boy, I hope they work this out. They have always been, IMO, SERIOUSLY short on the help pages, info and entire help system.

Other than the look and including the tweet stream, what did they change?
