eBay To Close Vancouver BC Customer Service Center

eBay To Close Vancouver BC Customer Service Center

According to a post on the official eBay blogsite eBayInkblog, eBay announced late this afternoon that it will be closing it’s Vancouver BC customer service center by September 2009. With this move approximately 700 jobs will be lost in Vancouver but according to eBay Chad O’Mera VP of Customer Service eBay Marketplaces there will be no major reduction in the total number of CS staff as there will be increases in the Salt Lake CS center and other global facilities.

In a press release posted by BusinessWire.com this move was taken to better the customer experience of both buyers and sellers as eBay rolls out new service programs (eBay recently announced it would be taking over dispute resolution services from it’s PayPal company).

At the time I am writing this post, there is no posting of this announcement on either the eBay.com or eBay.ca announcement boards. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
