Isn’t it fun being in the ecommerce business? You can often work from home, dress as you wish, take a coffee or cigarette (OK, I know that’s not PC), and basically work things around your schedule. Go to kids ball games, dance recitals, let the dogs out, all that kind of stuff. We call it having a life. Well as the saying goes sometimes life happens.

As some of my faithful friends know, I have been suffering from an abcessed tooth for the past several days. I called my dentist, got antibiotics, and finally yesterday morning the dentist was able to pull the offending tooth! Relief was amazing and complete! I asked my dentist if it would be OK to drive to Boston as I had planned on attending the Internet Retailer conference. The response was positive as long as I waited a few hours before departing. I was cleared for the trip!

About 5 PM last night I took off  on my drive to Boston, feeling good and looking forward to covering the IR conference for my radio show ebay & Beyond: Basics To Business. The drive was uneventful for the first couple of hours, then I noticed some bleeding from the removed tooth. The bleeding continued and increased as the miles wore on and after about an hour I got concerned. Now it should be noted that I in my former life was a Paramedic, I can handle this I thought, just more packing and pressure and the bleeding will stop. Well you guessed it, that did not happen. So, I pulled off the highway and found my way to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre PA.

To make a long story short, they were able to get the bleeding stopped, packed the socket, kept me for a couple of hours giving me an IV to replace the lost fluids and finally let me go at midnight. I had called a family member who met me at the hospital and they drove me back home none the worse for wear except for my plans being disrupted.

So for all those waiting to hear live broadcasts from Internet Retailer, I am sorry, that will not happen this year. Life happens. The joy of being self employed. And yes, I am fine. The cause of this all is other medication I take and was just one of those things.
