wsRadio.com Moves Away From eBay and eBayRadio

Has The Exodus From eBay Migrated Outside of the Company?

Over the past several days I have been getting emails, Facebook postings and Google alerts regarding upcoming changes at eBay Radio. According to the posting on Facebook by Griff himself, listeners will no longer be able to listen to eBay Radio or Ask Griff on wsRadio.com but instead must get to the programs via the eBayRadio group page. Listeners must sign up for the group but there is no fee.

Also in the mail this week comes news that wsRadio has launched the new Online Sellers Radio Network featuring news reads from Auctionbytes.com, Skip McGrath, author and online seller, GMan, Rss Ray, Martin Wales, Ron Cates and Shawna Fennell. The new network promises to cover multiple marketing venues rather than just eBay, though there certainly will be a large eBay focus from at least one of the hosts.

So, who left who? It seems that with the departure from wsRadio, eBay was able to lure Lee Mirabal to follow them to their new stream. Now eBayRadio will be streaming from ebroadcaststudios.com which was registered on June 30, 2009 according to WhoIs. Also according to the ebroadcaststudios.com website Lee is one of 3 cofounders along with Edward Keyes and Jesse Wacht. One could assume that Lee Mirabal was the one that did the luring, and gave eBay a better price to move over to her new venture. Another thought is that eBay has been cutting costs lately so maybe they encouraged and/or funded the venture because wsRadio wanted to expand podcasts past the eBay venue.

I listened to the intro of the premier of Online Sellers Radio Network which had snipets from the principal hosts and Jack Warren along with Chris Murch. During the intro with Ina Steiner, Chris Murch stated wsRadio had “broken away” from eBay, to be independent and truthful.

I also listened to a portion of the eBayRadio show from their new stream and could not help but notice they were not really ready for primetime with several technical issues. This is not a criticism, just something I noticed.

Who left who really doesn’t matter. What does matter in my mind is the statement from Chris Murch regarding independence and truthfulness. What were they before eBay departed?

A lot of food for thought recently, in eBay’s communication with it’s public.
Usher Liberman has left, and now wsradio has moved on.
    Is there a trend here?

Listening to the last boring eBay Radio show I was reminded why I don’t listen. It is a non stop commercial, with commercial breaks. There is no substantive content just froth and fluff.

Nothing that could in any way ripple the mirror surface of eBay’s perfect self image is allowed intrude or heaven forbid, exist.

So much for increasing openness and transparency, even the airwaves have been withdrawn behind the eBay wall. Join the group, boost the active user count, increase traffic and page views.

Anyone want to bet how long Funkle Griff will tolerate Lee’s constant interruptions? As a listener I found them irritating, it is difficult enough to follow a meaningless thread without having to filter out the yapping. I thought at one point I heard him grinding his teeth!

Has the already largely irrelevant program just stepped into obscurity and oblivion? Just how much credibility does an in-house media outlet have that is only accessible as an inlet?
